Man Stabbed to Death, Ambulance Stolen During Response in Downey
A man was fatally stabbed in front of the Downey Library on Brookshire Avenue, and paramedics were unable to save him. The 23-year-old stabbing suspect, described as a transient, fled toward Downey High School and was taken into custody there after the school and library were placed on lockdown. During the emergency response, an unrelated 52-year-old man from Los Angeles stole a Downey Fire Department ambulance parked at the scene. Police pursued the stolen ambulance to Alhambra, where the suspect crashed into a parked vehicle and was subsequently arrested. Both the stabbing and ambulance theft incidents are under investigation by local authorities. Police are seeking information from the public regarding the stabbing.
