Activists Help Child Rapist Evade ICE Arrest in Denver

On Friday in Denver, Colorado, left-wing activists from the Colorado Rapid Response group alerted Jose Reyes Leon-Deras, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador convicted of child rape in Italy, allowing him to evade arrest by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). ICE condemned the interference, warning that such actions endanger community safety and impede law enforcement. The Colorado Rapid Response group is part of a broader network of anti-ICE activists that actively monitors and publicizes ICE operations to warn individuals at risk of deportation. Denver's status as a sanctuary city and its policies limiting cooperation with ICE have contributed to increased anti-ICE activism and resistance, particularly since President Trump renewed deportation efforts.
