Fleury, Crosby, MacKinnon Join Team Canada Roster
Veteran goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, after concluding his 21-season NHL career with the Minnesota Wild, has postponed retirement to join Team Canada for his first IIHF World Championship appearance in Sweden and Denmark. Fleury will reunite with former Pittsburgh Penguins teammate Sidney Crosby, who also joins the roster and last played in the tournament in 2015, helping secure gold. Crosby led the Penguins in scoring this season and is expected to provide leadership as Canada seeks redemption after missing the podium last year. Nathan MacKinnon, following the Colorado Avalanche's playoff exit, is also expected to join, reuniting with Crosby after their recent 4 Nations Face-Off success. The inclusion of Fleury, Crosby, and likely MacKinnon highlights Canada's strategy to field a veteran and high-caliber lineup. The tournament begins May 9, with Canada set to play Slovenia in their opening game.
