Pano AI Raises $44M to Expand AI Wildfire Detection Across US, Canada, Australia
Pano AI, a wildfire detection company founded in 2020 and now headquartered in San Francisco, has raised $44 million in a Series B funding round led by Giant Ventures, bringing its total funding to $89 million. The company uses AI-powered detection technology, including high-resolution cameras and satellite feeds, to provide real-time smoke and fire detection, helping emergency agencies, utilities, and governments in the US, Australia, and Canada respond faster to wildfires. Pano AI’s system covers millions of acres and is used by 15 US electric utilities and numerous organizations across sectors such as forestry, renewable energy, and community associations. The company plans to use the new funding to accelerate product innovation, scale its technology globally, and improve early wildfire detection to mitigate increasingly severe and frequent fire seasons fueled by climate change. Corporate investors include Liberty Mutual Strategic Ventures, Tokio Marine Future Fund, Salesforce Ventures, and others, while Pano AI also leverages T-Mobile’s 5G network to enhance its real-time data collection and analysis capabilities. With wildfires becoming a year-round global emergency, Pano AI aims to transform firefighting through AI, reducing detection delays that can turn manageable fires into catastrophic events.
