Phil Simms Open to Unretiring No. 11

Simms has publicly endorsed unretiring his No. 11 jersey for Carter or fellow rookie Jaxson Dart, saying he would 'let him have it in a second' despite reservations from his agent and family. This openness contrasts with Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor's refusal to allow Carter to wear his retired No. 56. Last season, the Giants set a precedent by unretiring Ray Flaherty’s No. 1 for rookie Malik Nabers, who then broke the franchise's reception record. Simms praised Carter's positive attitude and suggested Carter could have the number retired again if his play merits it. The final decision on unretiring No. 11 may also require input from Simms' family and the Giants organization.
