Charlie Kirk Fatally Shot at Utah University Amid Rising US Political Violence
Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old CEO and co-founder of conservative youth group Turning Point USA, was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University, prompting widespread condemnation of political violence across the U.S. President Donald Trump and other conservatives mourned Kirk as an inspiring figure for young patriots, while Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and LSU College Republicans called for unity and an end to political violence. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis emphasized that violence is not the way to resolve political disputes and highlighted the growing trend of politically motivated attacks nationwide. Illinois Governor JB Pritzker blamed President Trump's rhetoric and the pardoning of January 6 rioters for fueling political violence, expressing sympathy for Kirk's family. Former President Joe Biden also condemned the shooting and urged an end to violence. The suspected shooter remains at large, and authorities continue their investigation.
