Canada, U.S. Set for Women’s Hockey Final
Canada advanced to the gold-medal game at the IIHF Women's World Championship after defeating Finland 8-1 in the semifinals, with captain Marie-Philip Poulin becoming Canada's all-time leading scorer at the tournament. Canada had previously beaten Japan 9-1 in the quarterfinals, led by standout performances from Jennifer Gardiner and Sarah Fillier. The United States reached the final as well, following a 3-0 semifinal win over Germany, highlighted by a shutout from goaltender Aerin Frankel. Finland, after a 3-2 quarterfinal win over Sweden, will face host Czechia for the bronze medal. The gold-medal game will see Canada and the United States meet for the fifth consecutive year. Tournament highlights include Gardiner leading in goals and strong contributions from both Canadian and American players.
