2 Lubbock Deputies Seriously Injured in I-27 Semi Crash

Two Lubbock County Sheriff's deputies, Cavazos and Martinez, were seriously injured while assisting a stranded motorist on southbound Interstate 27 near 98th Street when a semi-truck collided with their parked patrol vehicle, trapping them between the vehicle and the guardrail of the overpass. Good Samaritans at a nearby gas station quickly intervened to rescue the deputies, who were transported to UMC Hospital and are expected to recover. Another individual sustained moderate injuries and was also hospitalized. The Lubbock Police Department's Major Crash Unit is investigating the accident, and authorities have urged drivers to slow down and move over for roadside vehicles to ensure safety.
