Penix, London Not Enough in 24-23 Loss
The Falcons lost 24-23 to the New England Patriots after a missed extra point following Drake London’s third touchdown proved decisive. Michael Penix Jr. returned from a one-game absence with a knee issue and completed 22 of 37 passes for 221 yards and a career-high three touchdown passes, all to London. London caught nine of 14 targets for 118 yards and three touchdowns, including a one-handed contested grab late in the game. London has topped 110 yards in three of his last four games with five scores over that span, while Atlanta’s other receivers combined for only three targets and 17 of Penix’s 22 completions went to London or RB Bijan Robinson. The loss drops Atlanta to 3-5 and extends a three-game skid, raising questions about whether the team will seek help before the trade deadline as they prepare to face the Colts in Berlin in Week 10.
