Former NBA Star Paul Pierce Charged With DUI After Freeway Incident in Los Angeles

Paul Pierce, the 48-year-old NBA Hall of Famer, has been formally charged with two criminal counts related to his arrest in Los Angeles earlier this month: driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08%. Pierce was found asleep behind the wheel of his Range Rover on a busy LA freeway, where traffic had been at a standstill due to a crash. Police noted signs of alcohol impairment during their investigation, and Pierce provided a blood test following his arrest. Despite the charges, Pierce denied drinking and driving, attributing his falling asleep at the wheel to being "old" and "tired" in a social media post. Since retiring from the NBA in 2017, Pierce has worked as a sports analyst but faced firings from ESPN and FOX Sports amid controversies. He is scheduled for arraignment in November regarding these DUI charges.
