Fond du Lac Wisconsin Man Arrested After Seven-Hour Arson Standoff

A 32-year-old man in the town of Fond du Lac was arrested following an early-morning arson where he allegedly sprayed an accelerant and set his neighbor's house on fire, which self-extinguished before firefighters arrived. After deputies identified the suspect living nearby, he barricaded himself in his basement, leading to a seven-hour standoff with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office SWAT team, crisis negotiators, drone and K-9 teams. During the standoff, law enforcement used less-lethal gas and irritant agents, and an armored vehicle was used to create a breach for communication, resulting in the suspect's surrender shortly after 1 p.m. No injuries were reported during the incident or the subsequent arrest. The suspect was booked into Fond du Lac County Jail on multiple felony charges related to the arson and standoff.
