Kjeldsen, Gonzalez Lead Champions Major in Ohio

Soren Kjeldsen of Denmark and Ricardo Gonzalez of Argentina each shot a 3-under 67 to share the lead after the opening round of the Kaulig Companies Championship at Firestone South, the third major of the PGA Tour Champions season. Gonzalez recovered from an early bogey with five birdies, while Kjeldsen, a Danish rookie, continues his impressive debut season. Stewart Cink missed the lead after two late bogeys, joining Retief Goosen and Steven Alker at 68, one shot behind. Two-time major winner Ángel Cabrera posted a 71. The tournament winner secures a spot in next year's Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass. Firestone South, a famed venue with a rich history, proved to be a challenging test ahead of the upcoming U.S. Senior Open.
