Hoda Kotb, who left NBC's "Today" show after 17 years in January 2025, shared her thoughts on who should replace her as co-host alongside Jenna Bush Hager during an appearance on "Watch What Happens Live". Kotb named Savannah Guthrie, Justin Sylvester, and Scarlett Johansson—who she praised highly despite noting Johansson's unlikelihood to join full-time—as top contenders. She also mentioned comedian Matt Rogers and fellow "Today" co-host Sheinelle Jones, acknowledging Jones' recent difficult personal circumstances. Kotb emphasized that the best fit would be "whoever clicks great with Jenna," highlighting the importance of chemistry on the show. While rumors suggested Kotb might take over Kelly Clarkson's daytime talk show, she neither confirmed nor denied them, expressing contentment with her current endeavors. Since Kotb's departure, the show's fourth hour has been rebranded as "Today with Jenna & Friends," featuring a rotating lineup of guest co-hosts, with reports indicating Sheinelle Jones as the likely permanent replacement once she returns from her leave.
