Prince Andrew Emails Renew Scrutiny; Titles Stripped

King Charles stripped his brother of the Prince and Duke of York titles; Andrew will be styled Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and will move to a privately funded property on the Sandringham estate, Buckingham Palace said, citing "serious lapses of judgment." Newly unsealed court documents from the 2023 JP Morgan–US Virgin Islands litigation include April 2010 emails in which Andrew told Jeffrey Epstein it "would be good to catch up in person" and said he might "drop by" New York later that year; the two were photographed together in Central Park in December 2010. Epstein forwarded the exchange to banker Jes Staley, who was later banned by the UK Financial Conduct Authority for misleading regulators about his relationship with Epstein. JPMorgan records and a September 2019 suspicious-activity report flagging more than $1 billion in Epstein-related transactions have intensified scrutiny of Epstein’s financial networks and the bank’s handling of his accounts. Members of the US House Oversight Committee, victims' lawyers and relatives — citing Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir and her settled civil claim — have urged or threatened to subpoena Andrew to testify, saying he could appear remotely or would be subject to US jurisdiction if he enters the country.
