Nintendo Raises Switch 2 Forecast, Lifts Guidance

News summary

Nintendo raised its Switch 2 sales target to 19 million units for the fiscal year ending March 2026, up from a prior 15 million goal, after selling about 10.36 million units by Sept. 30, 2025. The company also raised full-year financial guidance, forecasting operating income of ¥370 billion, revenue of ¥2.25 trillion and net profit of ¥350 billion, after first-half revenue more than doubled and net profit rose 83% to ¥198.94 billion. Switch 2 launched on June 5, is priced around $450, and features a larger, more responsive screen, improved graphics and expanded online sharing and chat functions. Nintendo said the stronger outlook reflects sustained momentum that could still undershoot demand. Beyond hardware, Nintendo is diversifying revenue through films and live events, co-financing The Super Mario Galaxy Movie set for April 2026 and planning a live-action The Legend of Zelda film for 2027.
