Thailand Wins Miss World 2025 Amid Controversy

Opal Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand was crowned the 72nd Miss World at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad, India, marking Thailand’s first-ever victory in the pageant. Hasset Dereje Admassu of Ethiopia was named first runner-up among 108 international contestants. The event featured performances by Bollywood stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Ishaan Khatter, and was attended by political dignitaries and past Miss World winners. Sonu Sood received the Miss World Humanitarian Award, and the jury included Julia Morley, Krystyna Pyszkova, Sonu Sood, Sudha Reddy, Carina Tyrrell, and Manushi Chhillar. The celebration faced controversy after Miss England, Milla Magee, accused the organizers of exploitation, a claim which was publicly denied by the Miss World organization. Despite the dispute, officials highlighted the pageant’s role in promoting global unity and diversity.
