Security Fatally Shoots Intruder at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base
A civilian was fatally shot by security forces after attempting to illegally access Davis-Monthan Air Force Base near Tucson, Arizona, early Friday morning. The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. when the non-military individual failed to stop and identify themselves at the main gate, drove erratically, crashed into a deployed vehicle barrier, and then reversed their vehicle. Members of the 355th Security Forces Squadron responded by using their weapons to stop the individual, following protocol and their levels of force training. Base commander Col. Jose Cabrera expressed regret over the loss of life but emphasized that security personnel acted according to their training to protect the installation and its personnel. The case is under investigation by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations Detachment 217. No additional details about the civilian or motive have been released.
