Padres’ Bogaerts Exits With Shoulder Soreness
San Diego Padres shortstop Xander Bogaerts exited the June 4 game against the San Francisco Giants due to soreness in his left shoulder, the same one that caused him to miss nearly two months last season. Bogaerts has been experiencing discomfort for several days, particularly when batting, but it has not impacted his defense. He has not yet undergone imaging and is considered day-to-day, expressing optimism about a quick return. Jose Iglesias replaced him during the game and is set to start at shortstop in the series finale, bringing a .246 average over 40 games as a utility infielder. Bogaerts has struggled offensively this season, posting a .238 average and .651 OPS, both career lows. The Padres have not given a timeline for Bogaerts' return but hope his absence will be brief.
