Closures of Annecto, Wilshire Place Impact Thousands
Annecto Incorporated, a not-for-profit aged care and disability support provider with over 70 years of service across Victoria, NSW, Queensland, and the ACT, will close effective July 1 due to financial challenges and changing service models. The shutdown affects between 3,000 and 4,400 clients, including seniors, people with disabilities, and veterans, who now have only weeks to transition to new providers. Annecto is working with the Department of Health, National Disability Insurance Agency, and Department of Veterans’ Affairs to support clients and staff during the transition. In a related development, Wilshire Place Senior Living in Lubbock, Texas, is also closing, citing an unsustainable business model, and has given residents 30 days’ notice to relocate. These closures illustrate increasing financial pressure and instability in the long-term care sector, impacting vulnerable populations. Both organizations have pledged to assist affected individuals and expressed gratitude for ongoing community support.
