Tom Hanks, Kelli O'Hara Lead Off-Broadway World Premiere at The Shed

Tom Hanks is set to star in the world premiere of This World of Tomorrow, an Off-Broadway play at The Shed's Griffin Theater running from October 30 to December 21, with opening night on November 18 as part of The Shed's 2025 Gala. Co-written by Hanks and James Glossman and directed by Tony Award winner Kenny Leon, the play adapts Hanks' 2017 short stories and follows Bert Allenberry, a scientist from the future who repeatedly travels back to the 1939 World’s Fair in Queens in search of true love. The cast includes Tony Award winner Kelli O’Hara, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Kerry Bishé, Kayli Carter, Paul Murphy, Jamie Ann Romero, Lee Aaron Rosen, Jay O. Sanders, Donald Webber Jr., and Michelle Wilson. This production marks Hanks' first New York stage appearance in over a decade and features a creative team with notable contributions in scenic, costume, lighting, sound design, and dramaturgy. The story offers a blend of time travel and emotional exploration, set against the backdrop of a historical event.
