Lisa Ashton Wins Women’s World Matchplay Title in Blackpool

Lisa Ashton claimed her first Betfred Women's World Matchplay title at Blackpool's Winter Gardens after a thrilling 6-5 victory over Fallon Sherrock in a dramatic final. Ashton survived 11 match darts from Sherrock in the final two legs, including Sherrock missing eight darts at double 40, before Ashton clinched the win with a double 10 finish. On her route to the final, Ashton defeated Robyn Byrne 4-2 and ended Beau Greaves's bid for a third consecutive title with a notable 140 checkout. Sherrock, the 2022 inaugural champion, fought back from early deficits to lead in the final but ultimately fell short, finishing runner-up for the second consecutive year. Ashton expressed her happiness and gratitude to the supportive crowd, noting that her form had been inconsistent but that everything clicked on the day. The victory also secured Ashton spots in the Grand Slam of Darts and the PDC World Championship.
