Modi Visit Deepens India-Cyprus Strategic Economic Ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's historic visit to Cyprus has marked a new era in India-Cyprus relations, highlighted by the signing of a landmark MoU between the NSE International Exchange and the Cyprus Stock Exchange to foster cross-border financial collaboration. Both countries agreed to deepen economic, strategic, and diplomatic ties, with Cyprus pledging to prioritize EU-India relations as it assumes the EU presidency in 2026. Discussions included advancing a Free Trade Agreement with the European Union by the end of the year and promoting India's digital payment platforms for international use. The visit also emphasized the strategic importance of projects like the India–Middle East–Europe Corridor and the India–Greece–Cyprus Business and Investment Council. Cyprus reaffirmed its support for India on key international issues. Modi's visit, the first by an Indian leader to Cyprus in 23 years, positions India as a growing economic gateway between Asia and Europe.
