Married Consultant Probed Over Info Shared With Convicted Nurse Letby

A married consultant paediatrician, described as the 'boyfriend' of convicted serial killer nurse Lucy Letby, is under police investigation for allegedly sharing confidential information about one of the babies she attempted to murder. The consultant and Letby exchanged over 1,300 flirtatious messages while working together at the Countess of Chester Hospital, and despite denying a romantic relationship, the prosecution referred to him as her boyfriend. He was on duty during some of Letby's crimes, including the murder of two triplets and an attempted murder of a third baby, and continued to support her after she was moved to an administrative role amid concerns about baby deaths on the neonatal ward. The consultant also requested that Letby be allowed to visit him at another hospital where he worked, enabling her to observe surgeries and outpatient clinics, even after she was removed from clinical duties. The mother of one of Letby's victims filed a formal complaint, alleging he breached patient confidentiality by providing Letby with sensitive information, including emails and updates about her child's condition. The consultant has claimed he was misled and unaware of suspicions surrounding Letby, but the ongoing probe focuses on his role in the case and potential breaches of medical confidentiality.
