14-Year-Old Utah Boy Samuel Creel Dies After Falling Through Ice

Samuel Creel, a 14-year-old boy with autism, tragically died after falling through the ice while fishing at Glasmann Pond in Ogden, Utah, on January 27. He and a friend fell through the ice, and while the friend was rescued quickly, Creel was submerged for about two hours before being pulled from the water and later pronounced dead at the hospital. His family was unaware he had gone to the pond, as he had told them he was going to a friend's house. Creel, described by his family as a loving big brother with aspirations of becoming a police officer, enjoyed video games and the outdoors. Ogden City officials have cautioned the public about the dangers of icy waterways, noting that the ice can be deceptively thin.
