Former Girlpool Avery Tucker Announces Debut Solo Album Paw

Avery Tucker, formerly one half of the indie rock duo Girlpool, has announced his debut solo album titled 'Paw,' set for release on October 10, 2025. The album, co-produced with Alaska Reid and recorded between Livingston, Montana, and Encino, California, features collaborations with A. G. Cook, Katie Gavin of MUNA, and Aaron Maine of Porches. The lead single 'Like I'm Young,' described by Tucker as one of his most emotionally raw songs, explores themes of gender identity and personal vulnerability, reflecting his experiences including coming out as transgender and the disbandment of Girlpool in 2022. The track begins softly and builds to an explosive climax, with a music video directed by Nick Vernet. 'Paw' marks a significant departure from Girlpool's earlier sound, emphasizing rawness and emotional depth, with Tucker crediting Reid for encouraging him to fully embrace the spirit of the songs. The album follows Harmony Tividad's solo debut and continues the members' individual musical journeys post-Girlpool.
