Broussard Driver Killed in Two-Truck Crash on I-49 Near Ville Platte

A fatal crash on Interstate 49 near Ville Platte claimed the life of 40-year-old Marcus Landry of Broussard. Landry was driving a 2015 Freightliner M2-160 northbound when his vehicle struck the rear of a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia traveling at a reduced speed. Both drivers were properly restrained, but Landry succumbed to his injuries at the scene while the Cascadia driver was uninjured and tested negative for alcohol. The cause of the collision remains under investigation, with toxicology samples from Landry pending analysis.
