Nvidia, OpenAI Weigh Multi-Billion Dollar UK Data Center Investment

Nvidia and OpenAI are preparing to invest billions of dollars in developing AI-focused data center infrastructure in the United Kingdom, in partnership with London-based Nscale Global. This initiative aims to bolster Britain's domestic AI capabilities and reduce reliance on foreign technology infrastructure, aligning with a broader global trend toward 'sovereign AI' development. The announcement of this major investment is expected to coincide with U.S. President Donald Trump's state visit to the UK, during which Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman will participate. The project includes plans to deploy thousands of Nvidia GPUs in UK data centers, potentially at Nscale's Loughton facility, which is set to come online in 2026.
