Netflix Appoints Ollie Madden Director UK Film From Channel 4

Ollie Madden, currently Director of Film4 and Channel 4 Drama, will leave Channel 4 in October to become Netflix's Director of UK Film, reporting to Netflix VP of Content Anne Mensah. Madden has overseen numerous award-winning films at Film4, including The Favourite, The Father, and Poor Things, and will lead Netflix's UK film slate while also developing a select portfolio of filmmaker-led series. At Channel 4, Farhana Bhula will step in as interim Director of Film4 and Gwawr Lloyd as interim Head of Drama, with both continuing to collaborate to maximize talent relationships. Madden’s departure comes amid broader leadership changes at Channel 4, including the upcoming exit of CEO Alex Mahon. Madden expressed pride in his time at Channel 4 and confidence in the continued success of its distinctive, independent programming. His move marks a significant shift as he joins Netflix to expand its UK film presence and oversee projects linked to the UK-based intellectual property, talent, and production.
