Two Officers Shoot Armed Man in Gilbert Welfare Check

Two Gilbert police officers fatally shot a man on Wednesday evening near the intersection of Lindsay and Guadalupe roads after responding to a welfare check for a driver slumped over in his car. When officers tried to wake the man and asked him to exit the vehicle, he reportedly produced a firearm, prompting the officers to open fire. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and his identity has not yet been released. No officers or civilians were injured, and police described the incident as isolated with no ongoing threat. The Mesa Police Department, under the East Valley Critical Incident Response Team, is leading the investigation. The intersection remains closed while detectives continue their work.
