Ocala Police Arrest 15 in Countywide Child Exploitation Sting

Law enforcement agencies in Marion County, Florida, conducted coordinated undercover sting operations targeting individuals attempting to sexually exploit children. The Ocala Police Department carried out a three-day operation from June 26 to June 28, where detectives posed as minors on various chat platforms to identify and apprehend suspects who knowingly engaged in explicit communications and traveled to meet children. As a result, 15 individuals aged 18 to 59 were arrested, with six from Ocala, seven from other parts of Marion County, and two from outside the county. A total of 49 charges were filed, including counts of human trafficking, soliciting minors, traveling to meet minors, unlawful use of communication devices, and transmitting harmful material to a minor. The Marion County Sheriff's Office also conducted a related child sex predator sting, with a news conference scheduled to provide additional details, involving local and state officials. Authorities emphasized their commitment to protecting vulnerable children and bringing offenders to justice.
