Republic Services Q1 Profit Beats, Revenue Misses
Republic Services reported first quarter profits of $495 million, or $1.58 per share, up from $454 million, or $1.44 per share, a year earlier. This exceeded analysts’ expectations, which ranged from $1.53 to $1.56 per share, though revenue of $4.01 billion was just below the consensus estimate of $4.05–$4.08 billion. The company managed to grow despite sluggish cyclical volumes and challenging winter weather. CEO Jon Vander Ark cited effective cost management and resilience amid economic volatility for the strong results. Over the past year, Republic Services' stock has risen more than 24%, although it has seen recent declines in line with the broader market. EPS estimate revisions were mixed ahead of the earnings report, and the company’s financial health metrics remain positive.
