Free Bus Travel for Women on Raksha Bandhan

On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, several Indian states are offering free bus services for women. Uttar Pradesh is deploying 2,000 additional buses for free travel from midnight on August 18 to midnight on August 19, including all categories of state-operated buses. In Patna, Bihar, female passengers can ride free on 135 city service buses throughout the day, with a focus on safety features like CCTV cameras. Surat has also announced free travel for women and their children on city buses and BRTS on August 19. These initiatives aim to facilitate safe and convenient travel for women during this culturally significant festival, which celebrates sibling bonds. Each state is implementing measures to ensure smooth operations and encourage participation among women.
