2026 Nissan Leaf Debuts as Crossover With Upgrades
Nissan has launched the third-generation Leaf as a crossover SUV, offering up to 375 miles of range in Europe and 303 miles in the U.S., depending on the trim and battery. The 2026 Leaf features a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery, bi-directional charging, and supports both NACS and J1772 charging standards. Production will occur in Sunderland, UK for Europe and Tochigi, Japan for the U.S., supported by Nissan's EV36Zero sustainability initiative and new battery manufacturing investments. The redesigned model includes a minimalist interior, improved infotainment, and enhanced aerodynamics for greater efficiency. U.S. sales may be affected by tariffs and the absence of Nissan hybrid models, with pricing yet to be announced. The launch is considered crucial for Nissan's effort to regain its early leadership in the EV market.
