Weekend Fatalities Include Tyrrelstown Death

Over the weekend multiple fatal incidents were reported, including a hit-and-run in Columbus, Ohio, where a man was killed after a red Mitsubishi Lancer left the road on East 11th Avenue and struck him; the vehicle’s driver and five passengers fled and the Accident Investigation Unit is probing the incident. In County Londonderry a man in his 60s was found seriously injured near Dungiven and later died in hospital; police believe it may have been a hit-and-run and have appealed for witnesses and dash-cam footage, with local MLAs expressing shock. Gardaí reported several other recent road fatalities across the Republic of Ireland over the weekend, including single-vehicle and pedestrian collisions. In west Dublin’s Tyrrelstown a man in his 20s died after a disturbance at Curragh Hall Crescent; he was taken to Connolly Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Another man in his 20s has been arrested and is being detained while the scene is preserved for forensic examination, the State Pathologist has been notified, and authorities in all cases have appealed for witnesses as investigations continue.
