Zohran Mamdani, a socialist New York City mayoral frontrunner, held a lavish, three-day wedding celebration at his family’s luxury compound in the upscale Buziga Hill neighborhood outside Kampala, Uganda. The event was marked by intense security measures, including over 20 masked special forces guards, multiple security gates, and a phone-jamming system, despite Mamdani's previous calls to ban all guns in the U.S. The compound, owned by Mamdani’s parents filmmaker Mira Nair and political theorist Mahmood Mamdani, features lush gardens and panoramic views of Lake Victoria. Guests arrived in luxury vehicles such as Range Rovers and Mercedes-Benz cars, and the celebrations included traditional Indian fruit juices, dancing, music, and lights strung through the trees. Mamdani and artist Rama Duwaji had secretly eloped earlier in the year, with this event serving as the public celebration. Residents in the area were largely unaware of the wedding due to the compound’s secluded location and tight security.
