Lloyd’s of London has announced that Patrick Tiernan will become its new Chief Executive Officer effective June 1, 2025, pending regulatory approval. Tiernan, who has served as Lloyd’s Chief of Markets since 2021, brings nearly three decades of insurance industry experience, including senior roles at Aviva, StarStone Insurance, and Zurich. In his current position, he has overseen key areas such as underwriting, claims, exposure management, and international regulation. Lloyd’s Chair, Sir Charles Roxburgh, praised Tiernan's deep market understanding and commercial acumen, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the market into its next phase. Tiernan has pledged to focus on commercial performance, maintaining underwriting discipline, innovation, and fostering an inclusive culture. Outgoing CEO John Neal, credited with strengthening Lloyd’s financial performance during his tenure, will leave the role at the end of May 2025.
