Utah Toddler Found Dead in Campground Drainage Channel

A 2-year-old child died after going missing during a family camping trip Saturday morning in the Christmas Meadows area of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, Summit County, Utah. The child was located by law enforcement within about an hour of being reported missing and was found in a runoff or drainage channel near the campground. The child was transported by air ambulance to a Wyoming hospital and then transferred to a Salt Lake City hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Authorities have indicated that the incident appears to be a tragic accident, though an investigation is ongoing. A family member was also hospitalized for an unrelated medical concern.
