Heavy Rains Disrupt Trains, Flights Across Jammu, Katra, Udhampur

Heavy rains and flash floods have severely disrupted travel in Jammu and surrounding regions, leading to the cancellation and suspension of numerous train services and flight operations. Train traffic between Jammu, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Udhampur, and Bari Brahman has been suspended due to landslides, soil erosion, and flooding, stranding thousands of passengers including pilgrims headed to the Vaishno Devi shrine. At least 18 trains were cancelled or short-terminated, affecting routes connecting Jammu to major cities like Delhi, Secunderabad, and Chennai. Air travel has also been impacted, with flights to Srinagar and Leh diverted or cancelled due to adverse weather and flooding, further complicating connectivity. Authorities are providing refunds, alternative travel arrangements, and temporary shelter for stranded passengers, while meteorological warnings remain in effect for continued heavy rainfall and potential landslides. The disruptions highlight the vulnerability of critical transport infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir amid intense monsoon conditions.
