Child, Adult Seriously Injured in Multi-Vehicle Loop 202 Chandler Crash

A serious multi-vehicle crash occurred on May 8 along the eastbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway near Kyrene Road in Chandler, resulting in life-threatening injuries to an 8-year-old girl who had to be extricated from a vehicle. At least one other person was also seriously injured and required extrication. The crash involved three to four vehicles, and the cause remains unknown. All eastbound lanes of the freeway were shut down, causing significant traffic delays, while the westbound lanes remained open. Additionally, the eastbound and westbound Kyrene off-ramps were closed as a result of the accident. Authorities continue to investigate and have not provided an estimate for when the eastbound lanes will reopen.
