Moorhead Public Works Truck Fatally Strikes 9-Year-Old Boy in Crosswalk

A 9-year-old boy from Moorhead tragically died after being struck by a Moorhead Public Works truck while in a crosswalk at the intersection of 40th Avenue and 14th Street. The incident occurred around 11:45 a.m. Thursday when the 64-year-old driver, a Moorhead city worker from West Fargo, North Dakota, was heading north on 14th Street. The boy, who was on a bicycle, did not survive the collision and died at the scene. Authorities have confirmed the vehicle involved was a public works Mack 700 Straight Truck and stated that alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Investigations are ongoing, and no charges have been announced at this time. The identities of the boy and the driver were expected to be released following the investigation.
