Riibe Returns to US After Konanki's Disappearance

Joshua Riibe, the last known person to see Sudiksha Konanki before her disappearance, has returned to the US after being detained in the Dominican Republic during the investigation into her case. Riibe was identified as a person of interest but not a suspect, and was initially held under surveillance with his passport confiscated by Dominican authorities. A judge ruled that Riibe had cooperated with the investigation, allowing him to leave, and the US Embassy issued a new passport to facilitate his return. Konanki, a University of Pittsburgh student, went missing on March 6 during a spring break trip, with authorities suspecting she drowned after being swept into the ocean with Riibe. Her parents have requested that Dominican authorities officially declare her dead. The search for Konanki has been scaled back, as her body has not been found.
