British distance runner Jessica Warner-Judd has been provisionally diagnosed with focal epilepsy after suffering seizures during the European Athletics Championships, with a similar incident occurring in a race in the US earlier. Warner-Judd collapsed during the 10,000m final in Rome, had seizures, and was hospitalized, expressing uncertainty about her future but determined to resume running. Focal epilepsy, affecting one side of the brain, can lead to seizures lasting seconds to minutes.
