Storm Floris Triggers UK Severe Weather Warnings
Storm Floris is set to bring unseasonably strong and potentially disruptive winds to the UK, with the Met Office issuing a yellow wind warning for Scotland, Northern Ireland, north Wales, and northern England from Monday morning through early Tuesday. Wind gusts could reach 40-50 mph inland, 60-70 mph on northern and western coasts, and up to 85 mph on exposed Scottish coasts and hills. Heavy rain is forecast, increasing the risk of travel disruption, power cuts, and property damage such as tiles being blown from roofs. The Met Office warns of 'danger to life' from flying debris and large waves, especially on sea fronts and coastal roads. The strongest winds are expected Monday afternoon and night in Scotland, easing in the west by late Monday but remaining severe in the east until early Tuesday. Forecasters note some uncertainty in the storm's exact track and intensity and urge the public to stay updated.
