Aptera Completes 300-Mile Solar-Powered Road Trip Across American West

Aptera, a San Diego-based startup, has successfully completed its first solar-powered road trip, covering over 300 miles from Flagstaff, Arizona, to California on a single charge. The vehicle, designed to be the most efficient electric vehicle (EV) to date, demonstrated an impressive efficiency of 122 Wh per mile, benefiting from solar panels that added energy during the trip. Co-CEO Steve Fambro emphasized the vehicle's potential, highlighting its capability to travel up to 400 miles on a charge and generate additional range from sunlight. Although the recent journey was not a formal range test, it showcased the practical applications of solar energy in EVs, aiming to inspire confidence in sustainable transportation solutions. Aptera plans to finalize efficiency and range validations later this year, building anticipation for its innovative vehicle. The company's long-term vision includes producing a series of eco-friendly vehicles for both consumer and commercial use.
