Father, Son Die After Groton Bank Robbery Standoff
Shaun Fallon, 56, and his son Zachary Fallon, 27, both of Charlestown, Rhode Island, died after robbing the Chelsea Groton Bank in Groton, Connecticut, and engaging in a standoff with police. The incident began on June 12 when they threatened a bank teller with a note and fled with cash before being tracked to a Super 8 Motel. Police evacuated the motel and nearby businesses after the suspects claimed to have guns and explosives and refused to surrender. The standoff ended late Thursday night when police heard two gunshots from the room. Zachary Fallon died early Friday morning at the scene, while Shaun Fallon succumbed to his injuries several days later in the hospital. No explosives were found, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official causes of death.
