Route 72 Bridge Reopens After Replacement

The Route 72 bridge over Swatara Creek in Pennsylvania has reopened to traffic following its replacement, with the detour now lifted. The bridge, which was closed in April, underwent a $4.96 million project managed by Susquehanna Valley Construction Corporation, involving roadway reconstruction and drainage improvements. Temporary traffic control measures at local intersections have reverted to pre-construction conditions. Additionally, the new State Route 58 bridge in Morristown, NY, has also opened, replacing an aging structure to enhance safety and foster regional economic activity. This bridge was part of a $2.3 million investment aimed at improving access to popular recreational spots. Meanwhile, PennDOT reported significant infrastructure improvements across North Central Pennsylvania, including paving 118 miles of roads and upgrading 78 bridges this season.
