Washington & Lee University Raises Record $10.89 Billion in Annual Giving

In a historic year for philanthropy, Washington and Lee University surpassed its annual giving goal with over $10.8 million raised, contributing to a total of more than $544.7 million raised toward its $650 million campaign aimed at supporting student admissions and enhancing the university experience. The Marguerite Casey Foundation responded boldly to recent societal challenges by dramatically increasing its grantmaking to $130 million this year, more than five times its usual amount, to support nonprofit organizations defending civil rights and civil society. Meanwhile, in Orange County, the 38th Annual Circle 1000 Founders Celebration Brunch raised over $1.3 million for the Hoag Family Cancer Institute, highlighting continued community support for cancer care and featuring keynote speaker Mark Herzlich, a cancer survivor and former professional athlete. Collectively, these efforts illustrate a growing trend of increased philanthropic support for education, social justice, and healthcare, underscoring the importance of sustained giving in addressing critical societal needs.
