Pennsylvania Teacher Charged Sending Explicit Photos To Minor Student

Ashley Autumn Mongell, a 30-year-old Connellsville Area Middle School teacher, has been charged with unlawful contact with a minor, sexual abuse of a child, and corruption of minors for sending explicit photos and sexually suggestive messages to a 14-year-old former student. The investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children submitted a Cyber Tip to Pennsylvania State Police, which uncovered exchanges on Instagram and Snapchat where both Mongell and the teen shared nude photographs. Mongell admitted to knowing the boy was underage and that he had been her student, and she confessed to sending him a fully nude photo recovered from the teen's device. The Connellsville Area School District placed Mongell on administrative leave and emphasized their commitment to student safety while cooperating fully with law enforcement. Authorities are continuing the investigation, and the school district has refrained from providing additional details due to the ongoing legal and personnel matters.
