Mass Shooting Kills Four at NFL Headquarters NYC
A tragic shooting occurred at the Midtown Manhattan building housing the NFL's headquarters, where a 27-year-old gunman, Shane Tamura, fatally shot four people including off-duty NYPD Officer Didarul Islam before taking his own life. The NFL released statements mourning the victims, honoring Officer Islam's heroism, and expressing support for survivors and employees, including one who was seriously injured. Commissioner Roger Goodell described the event as an "unspeakable act of violence" and confirmed the injured employee's stable condition. Mayor Eric Adams revealed that Tamura, who had a history of mental health issues and carried a note blaming the NFL for his alleged Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), intended to reach the NFL offices but took the wrong elevator. The NFL office remains closed with employees working remotely as the league processes the incident and finds strength in unity. Prominent NFL figures also expressed shock and solidarity with those affected by the shooting.
