Krisel’s 'Hey Bear' Stars Goth, Galifianakis, Stevens

Hey Bear is a dark revenge comedy directed by Jonathan Krisel in his feature debut, starring Mia Goth, Dan Stevens and Zach Galifianakis from a script by Emmy-winner Carrie Kemper. It follows Claire (Goth), who vows to hunt the grizzly nicknamed Mr. Cranky after it mauled her husband Gregory (Stevens), and enlists socially awkward park ranger Putt (Galifianakis) in a mission described as a “coming of rage” blending grief, rage and offbeat comedy. Alix Madigan is producing, with Danica Radovanov and Carrie Kemper attached as executive producers. HanWay Films is handling international sales and will introduce the project at the American Film Market, while WME Independent and UTA Independent Film Group represent North American rights. Coverage notes Krisel’s reunion with Galifianakis (they previously worked together on Baskets) and likens the film’s tone to recent bear-centric comedies; no official release date has been announced.
